Oldham has long been a place respected for its progress as a Sustainable Food Place, gaining Bronze Award certification. We were initially engaged to develop a food strategy and action plan to help achieve Silver Award status. However, early on in this process the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The client’s priorities then shifted to a crisis response model, which we assisted with, and then more recently we worked on their strategic recovery objectives, with a focus on tackling the effects of the economic downturn and the drive to build back better and greener. Through this process, consulting and co-designing we stakeholders, we developed a strategy that focused on the short, medium and long term, the rationale for action, and mechanisms for implementation. We are now supporting Oldham with the implementation of the action plan, providing advice and technical guidance where required.
