Food strategy development

The Challenge:

Well-respected as a Sustainable Food Place, Oldham Council wanted to build on their Bronze Award certification and achieve Silver Award status. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the council’s priority shifted to crisis response.

Our Response:

Initially engaged to develop a food strategy, the FoodSync team built on this work to shape strategic recovery objectives for Oldham Council to tackle the pandemic-related economic downturn with an emphasis on building back better and greener.

The Outcome:

A robust strategy for Oldham Council was developed including rationale for action and mechanisms for implementation. Developing a food partnership and facilitating thematic steering groups, the FoodSync team have ensured future projects can be handled by the Council in-house.
