A local housing provider needed support to assess an under-utilised green space and critically evaluate their options for the site's development. A holistic approach was needed to address both economic feasibility and broader community benefits.
Working with the University of Salford’s School of Environment & Life Sciences, a scientific approach was taken to explore the feasibility of activities including large-scale growing. Consideration was also given to the land’s potential for delivering health and wellbeing benefits.
The project delivered a roadmap for the housing provider, offering strategic insights into how to activate the land for both environmental and social gains. Food Sync’s beyond-the-brief thinking has informed additional projects throughout the organisation.
