FoodSync were commissioned by Borough Care to review their food service, with a view to improving quality and consistency of the food offer in their group homes. We looked at a number of areas within the business carrying out site appraisals, reviewing systems and procedures, contracts with regard to best practice in the sector. This extended to specific areas such as nutrition and hydration, financial performance, procurement and resourcing.
We considered current performance and also how best we could future-proof the service in line with rising food costs and recruitment challenges in the sector. This resulted in an options appraisal and a series of recommendations for the client. Following this report we were retained to implement a new food service model, advising on procurement, nutrition, compliance, training and capital kitchen improvement works.
We developed a number of systems, procedures and tools to help the team deliver a first rate service in the future and provided a large amount of project management support through to recruitment and product selection. The new service was effectively rolled out in just over 2 months from instruction to go live.
